Empowering teams means you don’t leave them to fend for themselves, it’s usually the opposite, where leadership support is consistent and unyielding.

Teach and make sure designers are not pixel pushing for stakeholders but are as privy to implement strategic moves / changes as anyone in their teams
Foster consistent 360° feedback and collaboration through methodologies like design jam or squack with egos truly set aside
Last but not least is flat pure support for human beings we work with. Being human first is always the top priority, and simple tools like “happy folders” are useful helpers in arsenal of human leader
